Funeral services for Mr. Claude C. Stone, Jr., 87, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Burdeaux officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe.
Mr. Stone passed away on November 23, 2011 in West Monroe, LA. Mr. Stone lived and worked in the land clearing business in the Bunkie area for over 35 years. After moving to West Monroe, he worked for T.L James for over 15 years as a grader operator. Mr. Stone was an active member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Bunkie, Temple Baptist Church in Alexandria and Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Mr. Stone was a veteran having served in the United States Army. Mr. Stone served with honors in the 944th Ordnance Motor Vehicle Distributing Company and also spent time in the infantry during WWII.
Survivors include: sons, Sam Stone and Michael R. Stone and wife Beverly; grandchildren, John C. “Jay” Stone and wife Anna, Steven G. Stone and wife Mandy, Dr. Andrew Michael Stone and wife Maggie, Matthew Douglas Stone and wife Catherine, Shelly Nicole Stone, and Sharlene Stone Alexander and husband Heath; fourteen great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jay Stone, Andy Stone, Matt Stone, Steven Stone, Jimmy Rachal, and Anthony Stone.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, November 25, 2011 at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the La. Baptist Children’s Home, which Mr. and Mrs. Stone supported all of their lives.
