Funeral services for Morris Monroe Stewart, 97, of Monroe, will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, Loop Road, Monroe, with Dr. Larry Stafford officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Friday, April 5, 2013, at Towles Cemetery in Doniphan, MO.
Mr. Stewart passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013, at his residence. He was a Federal Poultry Inspector, member of First United Methodist Church of Monroe, NARFE, Sons of Confederate Veterans, VFW, and Clan Stewart Society of America and Scotland. Mr. Stewart was also a U. S. Navy veteran serving in WWII.
Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by wife, Virginia Stewart.
Survivors include his two daughters, Marilyn Stewart of Monroe, and Sara M. Ballard and husband Melvin of Houston, TX; grandson, Thomas Stewart Ballard of Houston, TX; granddaughters, Margaret Shaffer of Roanoke, TX, and Fredonna Gautier of E. Granby, CT; eight great grandchildren; and sister, Anne Alice Spitzmiller of Tulsa, OK.
Pallbearers will be the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
