Funeral services for Milton Clay Satcher, 87, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 14, 2016 at Lakeshore Baptist Church, Monroe, LA, with Rev. William Smith and Rev. Beth Chandler officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Milton died Monday, October 10, 2016, at University Health, Jackson, MS. Milton was born in Lecompte, LA. He served in the U.S. Navy receiving an honorable discharge in March 1948. He attended LA Baptist College and received a B.A. in education. Milton enjoyed a fulfilling career with Scott, Truck and Tractor Co.
After retirement, Milton continued an active lifestyle, fishing, gardening, planting trees and developing the family country land. He was a member of the Lakeshore Baptist Church and he thoroughly enjoyed the Men’s Sunday School class led by Scotty Barnes. Milton loved all of God’s world, people, animals and vegetation, and he was always open for a new adventure.
Milton was preceded in death by his wife and soulmate of almost 60 years, Doris; parents, Henry and Ida Delaney Satcher; two brothers, Calvin and Gene Satcher; sister, Thelma Reynaud; four nephews, Lloyd Reynaud, Duane, Ronald and Calvin Ray Satcher.
He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Nell Satcher, Mary Ann Satcher, Glenda Moran and Mollie (Gobel) Lynn; six nieces, Katherine (William) Brown, Debra (Paul) Randall, Marilyn Kay (Mike) Barr, Faye (Stan) Huffty, Donna (Willie) Welch, and Pam Lynn; four nephews, Alton “Buddy” (Bonnie) Reynaud, Darrell (Heather) Reynaud, Kenneth Satcher, and Jeff (Christy) Lynn; special friends, Suzanne, Chuck and Claire Walpole, Joe Dee, SuAnn, Ty and Jake Dycus; and numerous other dearly loved friends.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Barnes, Doug Self, Ron Sammons, Gene Ford, Philip Danpier and Sonney Tarpley. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Adults Men's Sunday School class from Lakeshore Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, Friday, October 14, 2016, at Lakeshore Baptist Church.
