Mignon Christmas Bynum Xander

December 13, 1918 — April 1, 2020

Mignon Christmas Bynum Xander, age 101 years, was born in Rayville, Louisiana, December 13, 1918 and passed away April 1, 2020. In 1965, after graduating from hotel management school, Mignon accepted a position as a Director of Social Services at The Episcopal College of Preachers at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC where she served for twelve years. It was during this time when she met her late Husband, Ralph Xander, who served as the engineer for the Cathedral. Upon retiring from the College in 1978, Mignon & Ralph settled in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, where she enjoyed the country life. Upon Ralph’s passing in 2016, Mignon moved to Sullivan Illinois to be near her children.

Mignon is preceded in death by her parents Hazel & Allen Christmas, her Sister Betty Christmas Coleman, her first husband Drury Howard Bynum & her late husband Ralph Xander.
Mignon is survived by two sons: Drury Howard Bynum, Jr. of Monroe & James Allen Bynum of Sullivan, Illinois, four grandchildren, Drury Price Bynum, Ashley Bynum Hammond, Danielle Bynum Schneider & Nichole Bynum Hasler, seven great grandchildren & four great, great grandchildren.

Services for Mignon Xander will be held later at a private ceremony of immediate family members. We know & appreciate family & friends who want to pay their respects in person but are unable due to the Corona virus conditions.
