Mr. Johnston was born on December 2, 1946 in Monroe, LA and passed away on January 22, 2021. He graduated from Farmerville High School. Van was loved by everyone that met him. He never met a stranger, and always put everyone else first. Van was a truly loving father and a wonderful husband. His love of his life was his wife, Ellie of almost 50 years. After a very short courtship he knew he had found the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. He even proposed to Ellie the night he met her. Van was a loving father. His son Shane was his pride, until his grandkids Harley and Beckett came along. He thoroughly loved going to the hunting camp and just hanging out with his best friend Shane. Van and Ellie loved watching Shane race his mud truck named “5:00 Somewhere”. When there was a race going on, it didn’t matter where it was, they would drive there and be there 2 hours before the race would start. When Shane became ill and passed away, Van had a big void in his life. Van and Ellie devoted their world to their grandkids. Van is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Floye Johnston; and his son, Michael Shane Johnston.
