Michael Wayne Green

Funeral services for Michael Wayne Green, 69, of Monroe, will be held at noon, Thursday, April 1, 2021 at North Monroe Baptist Church with Rev. Warren Eckhardt and Dr. Bill Dye officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Union Parish. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5-7 pm at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe.

Mike was born January 9, 1952 in Louisville, MS and passed away March 29, 2021 in Monroe. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Vicki Reppond Green; daughter, Kristi Green Perritt (Michael); son, Michael Shawn Green (Jenny); grandsons, Justin Michael Perritt, Wyatt Allen Perritt, and Grayson Joshua Green; sister, Jill Green Jordan (Jay); sisters-in-law Glenda Reppond Reynolds (Pete) and Linda Reppond Kennedy; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Glen Waymon Green and Ora Faye McWhirter Green; parents-in-law Bobby and Barbara Reppond; grandparents Jesse and Clara Mae Green and Robert and Bertha McWhirter; and brother-in-law Stan Kennedy.

Pallbearers will be Jim Berry, Rene Dugas, Mike Fuller, Greg Green, Ken Green, Bobby Patten, Pete Reynolds and Johnny Tibbitt.

Born in Louisville, MS, Mike was valedictorian of the Marion High School Class of 1970 and a 1974 graduate of Louisiana Tech University. As a retired computer analysis programmer of 40 years, he worked for several local corporations including Ford, Bacon & Davis, Manville Corp, and Riverwood before consulting with a number of companies. Mike also owned and ran Mike’s Munchies vending service for 10 years before fully retiring in 2018.

He was an active member of North Monroe Baptist Church where he sang tenor in the adult choir and was a member of the Jim Berry Life Group. He also served as a deacon for many years, having been ordained at Emmanuel Baptist Church in 1978. He was also an avid supporter of Louisiana Tech Football and the Lady Techsters, serving on the Tip Off Board and as an LTAC member. Mike was also a member of the Western Masonic Lodge, the Ouachita Valley DPMA and served on the North Monroe Sewage Board.

Most importantly, Mike was a devoted, loving husband and father who enjoyed traveling and especially supporting his three grandsons in their academic and athletic ventures.

Memorials may be made to the North Monroe Baptist Church Building Fund or Liberty Cemetery Inc.
