Funeral services celebrating the life of Michael Timothy “Chief” Parker, 65, of Downsville, Louisiana, will be held on 2:00 P.M., Sunday, October 27, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Rev. John Parker officiating. The interment will follow immediately after at Wilhite Cemetery in Downsville, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service on Sunday.

Mr. Parker was born on November 3, 1958, in Monroe, Louisiana and passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

Michael was a father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and son who loved his family fiercely. His greatest joys were his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He was a Chief Engineer on a tugboat with twenty years of dedicated service and they called him “Chief”. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Lynn Parker; mother, Mary Wiggins Cotton; and stepfather, Robert E. Cotton.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Daniel Parker and Phillip Parker; daughters, Jenny Hawsey and Melissa Whitcomb and her husband, Scott; mother of his children, Rita Taylor; brothers, Barry Parker, Keith Parker, and John Parker and his wife, Vickie; sisters, Marcie McDavid and her husband, Bucky, Debbie Meadows and her husband, Donnie, and Susan Hovinen and her husband, David; grandchildren, Luke Parker, Emily Frost, Peyton Parker, Alexis Whitcomb, Kylee Whitcomb, Raven Parker, Daelyn Parker, Hellion Parker, Levi Parker, Landon Parker, Lane Parker, and Lee Parker; great grandchild, Adalynn Frost; stepbrother, Geoff Cotton; and stepsister, Lisa Clarke; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.

The pallbearers will be Luke Parker, Peyton Parker, Brady Fortenberry, Daelyn Parker, Benny Barkley, and Devin White.
