Visitation will be held Monday, December 16, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fair Park Baptist Church

Casey was born December 20, 1993, in Monroe, LA, and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 5, 2024.

Casey was strong, kind, and loving. He was a friend to many, had the best laugh, and was loved by all who knew him. He graduated from West Monroe High School in 2013 and from ULM in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology.

Casey’s love for sports was apparent at an early age. Growing up, he was an outstanding football and baseball player. Rounds of golf, tennis, and pickup basketball were routine, and in recent years, Casey developed a love for running. He competed in races across the country, from California to Louisiana, completing his first half marathon in San Diego in August, finishing 13.1 miles in 1:52:51, and his final race in West Monroe’s Wild Turkey 3 Miler, finishing 15th in the entire race, completing a 3-mile run in 19:48.

Casey’s love for sports was matched by his passion for the great outdoors. Whether hunting, fishing, shooting, four-wheeling, or riding dirt bikes, he spent many hours and created lifelong memories with his brothers, Jordan and Griffin, and dad, John.

Casey shined in his career, and through his different roles, Casey made friends all over the United States and met his beloved girlfriend, Abby O’Brien. Casey spent much of his career at M.A. Mortensen Company, where, for the past year, Casey worked as a Safety Engineer on the Gaylord Pacific Resort Hotel and Convention Center in San Diego, a 22-story, 2 million square foot property. Casey took pride in his work and shared updates with his family often.

Casey lived life to the fullest, but his true loves were his family, friends, and Abby. Casey made thoughtful efforts to stay in touch with the people he cared about. He was a devoted son, brother, grandson, great-grandson, nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend. His unforgettable and infectious laugh was a blessing. He was never too busy or far away for a text or call, from anywhere in the country, with commentary on sports, politics, wacky Facebook posts, or whatever was going on in his life. “Uncle Casey” was a welcome sight at sporting events, dance recitals, church activities, and school functions, not for himself, but for his young cousins and his niece.

Casey was a Mama’s and Meme’s boy – with a deep love for the strong women who raised him and taught him about Jesus. He adored and looked up to his twin brothers, and his dad was his hero. Casey followed Christ throughout his life. He has fought the good fight; he has finished the race; he has kept the faith. Casey will be missed greatly by all who loved him.

Casey was preceded in death by his grandparents, June and Wilfred Ellis, his grandfather, Bobby Jack Bayles, and his cousin, Bryce Bayles.

Survivors include his parents, John and Kimberly Bayles Ellis; his brothers, Jordan Ellis, and wife Breanna, and Griffin Ellis, and wife Chelsey; maternal grandmother, Annie Ruth Bayles; niece, Emmie Ellis; aunts, Terri Trammell and Jeri Tennis; uncles, Robert Ellis and wife Gerri, and Kevin Bayles and wife Debbie; cousins, Kristen Ellis Gorski and husband Kevin, Cydni Ellis Hanks and husband Kevin, Amy Bartlett and husband Michael, Avery Tennis, Collins Tennis, Tim Bayles and wife Tori, Brandi Cole and husband David, Misty Foster and husband Joe, Ellis and William Gorski, Robert Klein Hanks, Ava Bartlett, Annie and Cooper Cole, Benton, Briggs, and Olivia Bayles, Atticus Brown and Amelia Foster. Casey is also survived by the love of his life, Abby O’Brien.

Pallbearers will be Will Bennett, Logan Murry, Michael Mims, Chris Nolan, Kendall Robinson, Cade Stone, Ryan Parker, John Ford, Caleb Reynolds, Brett Sartor, Tanner Noel, and Teddy Henderson.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Casey, who had a heart for children.
