Funeral Services for Michael “Doc” J. Rice, Sr., 54, of West Monroe will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday July 22, 2007 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Rev. Johnny Parker officiating.Mr. Rice died Thursday, July 19, 2007 at home after a short illness. He was born September 28. 1952 in Torrence, CA. Doc followed in his father’s footstep, working in auto body and mechanics. He loved being with his family and you could always find him playing cards with his family. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He is preceded in death by his parents James and Jacqueline Rice and his brothers, James E. Rice, Jr. and Fred Rice, Sr.
Survivors include: his brothers, Donald Rice, Sr. and wife Terry, and Steve Rice, Sr. and wife Julie, and his sister, Pamela Rice Finley all of West Monroe. His children: Kelly Rice, Michael Rice, Jr. and his wife Victoria, Rusty Rice and his companion Brandy Platt, and Rebecca Rice and her companion Harvey Pippins, all from West Monroe. He had 9 grandkids: Agnes Rice, Kevin Gilbert, Jr. Samuel Roy Gilbert, Alice & Allison Gilbert, Kaitlyn Rice, James Rice, Joseph Pippins, and Evan Rice, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Robertson, Harvey Pippins, David Rice, Donald Rice, Jr., Milton Albritton and Kevin Withers.
Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Saturday, July 21, 2007 and 10:00 A.M. until Service time on Sunday, July 22, 2007.
