Melvin W. Hunter

Funeral services for Melvin W. Hunter, 59, of Sterlington, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 1, 2017, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA with Rev. Terry Slawson officiating. Interment will follow at Reeks Cemetery, Pioneer, LA.


Mr. Hunter was born September 15, 1958 and passed away September 28, 2017 in Shreveport, LA. Melvin was a skilled woodworker. He was a devoted, loving husband and father, and was known for always helping others.

Mr. Hunter was preceded in death by his brother, Jamie Hunter.

Survivors include his wife, Hannah Reeks Hunter; two daughters, Joanna Hunter and Rebekah Hunter; son, Alfred Hunter; mother, Nora Jean Allen and husband Calvin; father, Dewayne Hunter; brother, Robert Hunter and wife Laura; and step sisters, Michelle Auger, Carolyn Temple, Vicki Yates and Debbie Jones.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Conner, Mitchell Hunter, Mike Stephens, Nick Whitaker, Jimmy Wyrich, Bruce Fabela and Mark Gamell.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Seeker Springs Ministries.
