Melton "Mel" F. Doughty, Jr.

Funeral services for Melton “Mel” F Doughty, Jr., 71, of Aledo, TX, will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 24, 2018, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA, with Rev. Tom Lowe officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Bastrop, LA.

Mr. Doughty was born October 2, 1946, in New Orleans, LA, and passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018, in Fort Worth, TX. He was raised in Bastrop, LA, and graduated from Bastrop High School. Mr. Doughty was currently a business owner in Fort Worth, TX, and spent many years in the heavy equipment business. He enjoyed golfing and cutting horses.

Mr. Doughty was preceded in death by his parents, Melton Felbert Doughty, Sr. and Minnie Ophelia Bridges Doughty.

Survivors include his daughter, Necole Brown and her husband, Rodney; and granddaughter, Mackenzie Caldwell, all of West Monroe, LA.

Pallbearers will be Morris Funderburg, Benton Barnette, Gary Cox, Brad Drake, Mark Buster, and Jack McCormick.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM until service time, Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
