Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Maxine Lorraine King Fontenot, 88, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Dr. Jim Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow in the Hasley Cemetery.
Maxine Lorraine King Fontenot was born on January 19, 1934, in Fort Necessity, LA to John and Ina King, and passed away peacefully on July 21, 2022. After graduating from Ouachita Parish High School in 1952, she met the love of her life, Odis S. Fontenot. She became a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her brothers, John C. King and Donald King.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherri Willis (Kirby); four sons, Odis “Sammy” Fontenot Jr. (Lisa), Kenny Fontenot (Clevea), Ricky Fontenot (Candy), and John Gary Fontenot (Kristi); grandchildren, Holly, Courtney, Justin, Kendra, Sydney, Amber, Allison, Whitney, Kevin, Kelsi, Zach, Emily and Audrey; along with nineteen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Zach Fontenot, Kevin Fontenot, Luke Jenkins, Wyatt Jenkins, Justin Fontenot, and Corey Pendleton.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Tuesday.
Mrs. Fontenot will be remembered for her quick-wit, joke telling, and sensational cooking skills. Her signature recipe, Louisiana Seafood Gumbo, is featured at her son and daughter-in-law’s restaurant, Fontenot’s Po Boys in Fulton, MO.
We will never fill the space she left behind. Rest in peace.
