Funeral services for Maurice N. Lewis, 76, of Monroe will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at North Monroe Baptist Church with Rev. David Worthington and Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mrs. Lewis passed away at Pearland, TX Monday, November 22, 2010. She was a member and faithful worker of North Monroe Baptist Church. She was an accomplished seamstress, making several wedding dresses and men’s tailored suits. She enjoyed painting, flower and vegetable gardening, and loved her miniature dachshund, Oreo. Her greatest love , other than the Lord, was her family. Through the years, she has been Mom to many of her children’s friends that were attending college.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Billy Sunday Lewis; daughter, Alice Lewis; son, Greg Lewis and wife Polly; grandson, Daniel Lewis; three sisters, Cordie Harvey, Pete Sumner and husband Dub, and Helen Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
The family would like to thank Asera Care Hospice of Houston for their wonderful loving care of Mrs. Lewis.
