Matilda D. Clark

May 26, 1928 — January 13, 2018

Mrs. Matilda “Tibbie” Clark, was born May 26, 1928 and died January 13, 2018, at the age of 89. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at Noon, Saturday January 20, 2018 at the Highland (New Iona) Presbyterian Church, 1403 Wellerman Road, West Monroe, LA. Interment will be at Hasley Cemetery immediately following. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
Tibbie was a loving Mother, Granny, Mawmaw, GG, and friend and will be missed by all who knew her. She was an Elder and lifelong member of the Presbyterian church and worked tirelessly in projects such as Soup for the Soul, Family Promise, Mexico Border Ministries, and many other church activities. She was a Girl Scout at a time when scouts made their own cookies to sell and served as both a Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout leader. She was a proud graduate of Louisiana Tech where she met her first husband. She worked in accounting until her retirement from the paper mill.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, her dog Rusty, traveling, water aerobics, book club, breast cancer support group, gardening, sewing, playing the piano, line dancing, and genealogy. Even through her lengthy illness, her loving caregivers state they will always remember her for her caring heart and way of bringing joy and laughter to those around her.
She is survived by her son, William M. Johnston, III (late Suzette); her daughter, Deborah(Debbie) Johnston Hodge (Kindred); daughter in law, Tammy Johnston (late George), 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William M. Johnston, Jr and Tommie Clark; son George Edward Johnston; stepson, Johnny Wayne Clark; and infant daughter, Julie Johnston.
