Services for Mrs. Mary Virginia Scriber, 100 of Winnsboro, will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Winnsboro, with Rev. Chris Winterman, Rev. Fran Guy, and Rev. Johnny Hankins officiating. Interment will follow in Grayson Family Cemetery, in Fort Necessity, LA., under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mrs. Scriber was a 1935 graduate of Fort Necessity High School. She attended Louisiana State Normal College, as N.S.U. was then known, earning her teaching degree in 1939. She then taught elementary education in Winnsboro for 9 years.
Mrs. Scriber loved spending time with her family. She loved to cook and travel. She loved shelling peas, and cracking pecans. She also loved to send cards to friends and family, enjoyed
helping and entertaining people. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, and an active member in the U.M.W. Group.
Mrs. Scriber was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Mae Harkey; and her husband of 64 years, W. Buie Scriber.
Survivors include: son, Bill Scriber and wife Mary Joan of Houston, TX., daughter, Ginger White and husband Cloid of Winnsboro, 6 grandchildren; Amy Scriber Szucs, of Denham Springs, LA., Ben Scriber of Houston, TX., Stephen Scriber and wife Andrea of Houston, TX., Kris White of Portland, OR., Grayson Boudreaux and husband Tommy of Gretna, LA., and Hunter White and wife Chrissie of Winnsboro, great-grandchildren; Cole and Viktoria Szucs, Addison Noser Bitsis, Ame’lie and Olivia Boudreaux, and sister-in-law, Joy Scriber of Winnsboro.
Pallbearers are: Ben Scriber, Stephen Scriber, Cole Szucs, Kris White, Hunter White, Tommy Boudreaux, Ray Scriber, and Glen Scriber.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 21st at First United Methodist Church in Winnsboro.
