Mary Virginia Love passed away peacefully in Houston, TX, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the age of 81.
Mary was born to Ocie Ray Love and Eunice Reppond Love on November 16, 1940, in Monroe, LA. She grew up in Swartz, LA and graduated from Ouachita Parish High School, Class of 1958. Mary had a successful career as a bookkeeper and Accounts Receivable Specialist working for Southern Mud Logging in West Monroe, LA, Century Telephone in Marion, LA, Hunt Refining in Tuscaloosa, AL and Valor Telecommunications in Dallas, TX, as well as others. She had a fantastic green thumb and could grow anything and was especially gifted with African violets. Mary loved animals, especially her cats, but her pride and joy was her family whom she loved very much. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her great joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Austin “Bernard” Love.
She is survived by her three children, James “Randy” Bryant (Denise), Karen Bryant-Mastin (Darrell), and the Rev. Stephen Kidd (Melanie); seven grandchildren, John Bryant (Courtney), Megan Dutton (John Paul), David Bryant, Katherine Norton (James), Olivia Kidd, Emma Kidd, and Margaret Love Kidd; three step-grandchildren, Kristi Parker (Jed), Trent Hamner (Laney), and Westly Hamner (Ashlyn); as well as eleven great grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress, and Joy Home Health Care both of Houston, TX, and to the many doctors, nurses, caregivers, PT and OT therapists, and staff who have cared for her, allowing her to enjoy her life despite her significant challenges the past several years.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the National Kidney Foundation.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 15th, 2022, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, 300 McMillan Rd., West Monroe, LA, from 10:00 A.M. until funeral time at 12:00 P.M. A brief graveside service will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, 325 Liberty Baptist Church Rd., Marion, LA 71260. All are welcome.
