Mary Jeanette George Parham

Funeral Services Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Mary Jeanette George Parham, 93, of Mangham, LA, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 12, 2023, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Winnsboro with Rev. Doyle Adams, Rev. David Richmond, and Dr. Alan Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Gwin Cemetery.

Jeanette was born in Mangham, LA on October 13, 1929 and went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 8, 2023. She was a resident of Plantation Manor Nursing Home in Winnsboro. Jeanette graduated from Mangham High School, Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Northwestern University, Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and her plus 30 from Northeast Louisiana University.

She began her teaching career in Holly Ridge, then transferred to Mangham where she taught for 35 years. After retiring from the public school system, she taught at Franklin Academy for 10 years. Jeanette loved her first and second grade students and one of her great thrills was meeting former students who shared their successes with her.

She loved New Light Baptist Church and had taught Sunday School for over 65 years. Jeanette loved to entertain at her home and always decorated with appropriate holiday decorations. One of her specialties was baking apple cakes and sharing them with friends and relatives. She looked forward to her monthly dominos club and two book clubs.

Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Clara George; her husband, Henry Parham; and her daughter, Amy Johnston.

Survivors include her daughter, Becky Hunt and husband, Jeff, of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren, Will Hunt and wife, Kim, and Austin Hunt both of Tampa, FL, Haven Johnston and wife, Brittany, Gentry Johnston and wife, Erica, both of Calhoun, LA; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Bennie George of Gilbert, LA, Linda Tarver and husband, Gene, of Vidalia, LA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Will Hunt, Haven Johnston, Gentry Johnston, Tony George, Michael Johnston, and Tim McCann. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Kramer, Larry Hebert, George Thames, Bubba Schooler, Tim Thames, Ronald Nobles, Bubba Bell and Austin Hunt.

The family would like to extend special thank you to the staff Plantation Manor Nursing Home for their care and Jeanette’s roommate Mrs. Burge for her gracious hospitality. Words cannot express our profound gratitude to her dear friend and caregiver, Pearlie White.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at New Light Baptist Church in Mangham.
