Mary Ann Shambro Love, 89, of West Monroe, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on April 25, 2024. Visitation will be Monday, April 29 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home Monroe. The funeral mass service will be Tuesday, April 30 at 1:00 PM at St. Paschal Catholic Church with Pastor Mike Thang’wa officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paschal Cemetery with Mulhearn Funeral Home officiating.
Mary Ann was raised in a large Catholic, Italian family and was proud of her upbringing. Due to her Italian heritage, she was an excellent cook and would serve up mouth-watering spaghetti, stuffed artichokes, crawfish bisque and more. Mentally you didn’t stand a chance against her, especially if you watched Wheel of Fortune with her. Doing Bible crossword puzzles, watching westerns, attending mass, praying, or reading her bible were some of her favorite pastimes.
Mary Ann was a loving mother and after raising her children and loving on her own grandchildren, she later worked at a daycare showering her love on her daycare “babies.” Showering love on others was her calling. Anyone who was blessed to know her, had no doubt how much she loved them. She wrote the most beautiful and intentional cards for every special season of our lives, never missing a birthday, anniversary, or any other special event. Each card was long, personal, and a testament to the kindness of her heart and the incredible sharpness of her mind, as she wrote each note specific to the recipient. She was our Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend. We lovingly called her Grandma, Nana, Mom, Sister, and Aunt. She dedicated her life to selflessly serving those around her and her kindness was heavenly. She did not seek the things of this world but would rather spend her time on what she called the most important thing; and that was prayer. Being a prayer warrior, Mary Ann spent hours every day praying for her family or anyone who needed prayer. Love was not only her last name; love is her legacy. We will miss you greatly and we will love you forever and ever!
She was preceded in death by her mother, Carmela “Mary” Shambro; father, Collie Joseph Shambro; her brother, Carl “Junior” Shambro; her sister, Rosemary Moray; and her daughter, Mary Jo Butler. She is survived by her sister, Carmen Holyfield and husband James; daughters, Debbie Gailhard and husband Jim, Lynn Love, Becky Landrum and husband John; and son, Bill Love and wife Hope. Grandchildren include Camille Nugent, Brittany Butler, Alicia Mayeaux and husband Mickey, Christopher Clark, and Mitchell Clark and wife Olivia. Great grandchildren include Corbin and Tristan Nugent, Eli and Brody Aron (Camille), Brielle Butler (Brittany), Jack and Laney Brooke Mayeaux, and Crews and Thaddeus Clark (Chris). She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, great nephews, and nieces who adore her.
Pallbearers will be Mark Holyfield, Todd Holyfield, Jimmy Holyfield, Sam Charrier, Christian Charrier, Canaan Charrier, David Smith, Christopher Clark, Mitchell Clark, Mickey Mayeaux and Jack Mayeaux.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the kindness and care provided by the doctors, nurses, and staff on the 5th floor of Saint Francis Medical Center.
