Mary Louise Wicks, 70, of Monroe, died Thursday, December 20, 2018. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 12, 2019 at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Rev. James Dominic Thekkemury officiating. Interment will be at Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mrs. Wicks passed this life peacefully in her home on Thursday, December 20, 2018, surrounded by family. Mary was born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, and spent the majority of her childhood in West Monroe, LA, when her parents, Martin & Rita Schempf, relocated to open an A&W Root Beer stand. Her life took her back to the Midwest where she met her husband of 50 years, Edwin T. Wicks. She was a diverse woman who supported her husband through his career which took them and their family from Minnesota, Tennessee, Alabama, New Jersey, Mississippi & then back to her roots of Monroe, Louisiana. In her later years, she achieved her love of travel by visiting 47 of the 50 states and many countries abroad. She was an active member of her church, Jesus the Good Shepard Catholic Church, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Mary will be remembered for her outgoing personality, joyful approach to life and her dedication as a wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to all.
Mary is survived by her sister, Dorothy Fox; brother, Gene Schempf; her loving husband, Edwin Thomas Wicks; her children, Laura, Leann & Martin; stepchildren, Robert, Mary & John; grandchildren, Elaina, Elise, Emily, Enya, Zachary, Zaylie, Dayna, Taylor, Charles, Nichole, Britany, Brecken, Kamilyn, Nathan; great-grandchildren, Gaven, Tessie, Chico, Aspen, Kael, Reklin, Elowin, Virae, and Jovienna; several nieces and loved ones; as well as her beloved dogs, Kingston & Balou.
