Mary Katherine "Kathy" Johnson

Mary Katherine Masters Johnson “Kathy”, 81, of Monroe, LA, was born June 27, 1941, and passed away at St. Francis Hospital on her 81st birthday surrounded by family and friends on June 27, 2022, after a lengthy illness.

“Musser”, as she was known to family and friends, worked as an administrative assistant early in her life. However, her favorite occupation was being a homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of North Crossings Church and lived her life for Christ. She loved spending time with family and hosting large family gatherings. Many will remember her large Christmas Eve parties, and Sunday lunches that you could only attend if you went to church first. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, sewing, and reading. She could cook any dish and sew any garment. Many weekends you could find her shopping with her sister, daughter and grandchildren. Kathy was caring and selfless, cherishing her friends and family. She will be greatly missed but is now rejoicing with the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse James Masters and Mildred Octavia Ewing Masters.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, David Johnson; sister, Sue Masters; children, Connie Johnson Walden and husband Tim, Scott Johnson and wife Laura; grandchildren, Kelsey Walden Bohl (husband Alex), Annsley Walden Ray (husband Trevor), Devin Johnson Gole (husband Lee), Scout Johnson, Piper Johnson, and Jesse James Johnson; and her great-grandchildren, Leeland Gole, Lydia Bohl, Walden Ray, and Locke Bohl with Warren Ray and Copeland Gole on the way.

Services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2022 at North Crossings Church in Monroe, LA, with a visitation at 5:00 p.m., immediately followed by a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. Services will be officiated by Pastor Trey Oldham, Pastor Ray Owens, Pastor Jimmy Masters, and Pastor Todd Perry.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be sent to North Crossings Church children’s ministry.
