Mary Joyce Saxon Snyder

Mary Joyce Saxon Snyder, 75, of Calhoun, LA, passed away on January 5, 2018, at her residence. She was born March 2, 1942, in West Monroe, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hampton B. and Mary O. Lee Saxon; sisters, Virginia Yvonne Williams and Rita Saxon Spillers; and nephew, Steve O. Williams.

Survivors: husband, C. E. Snyder; children, Joseph C. Gross, IV (Sharon), Dawn Joyce Snyder, special daughter, Dana Snyder and Sampson S. Snyder; 4 grandchildren, Courtney Dunn, Jonah Wall, Samantha Grace (Gracie) Snyder and Mary Nicole Gross; sister, Dianne S. Henry; brothers, Larry H. Saxon and Roy D. Saxon.

Joyce enjoyed being the wife to her husband, C. E. for almost 47 years, a mother to her children, “Nana” to her grandchildren and having family to holiday meals and special times. Living on two golf courses for several years, she really enjoyed playing golf with her friends and family, Golf was a big part of her life.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 8, 2018, at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe with Rev. Marty Black and Rev. Clovis Sturdivant officiating. Interment will be in New Chapel Hill Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until service time at the church.

Pallbearers will be Keith and Jeff Williams, Wesley Spillers, James Spillers, Robby Milstead, and Jesse Saxon.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Calvert Crossing and Pine Hills Ladies Golf Association, Odis Williams, George Spillers and Carroll Joiner.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Scott Barron and his staff for the “special care” for over 1 ½ years.

Memorials may be made to New Chapel Hill Baptist Church or American Cancer Society.
