Funeral services for Mary Baskin McDonald, 89, of Monroe, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday April 25, 2018 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe with Rev. Daniel Hoover officiating. Interment will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA.
On April 23, 2018 Mary Baskin McDonald went peacefully to sleep in Jesus. Mary Elizabeth was born December 31, 1928 in San Antonio, Texas. She grew up in Baton Rouge, LA and graduated from LSU in 1949 with a BA in Arts and Sciences. She met Baxter McDonald, Jr. while attending LSU and they married on May 6, 1950. Mary was a member of the Westlake’s Seventh Adventist church where she served as a deaconess. Mary was a loving wife, grandmother, and great grandmother. Serving the Lord was very important to her. Her faith and trust were unshakable because she knew that Jesus was her forever friend and would always hold her close to his heart. She said to “Always remember these two thing; God is a God of love and he never makes a mistake”. She is preceded in death by her husband Baxter McDonald, Jr. and son Gene McDonald.
Survivors include her sons, Todd McDonald Sr. and wife Frances, and Michael McDonald; grandchildren, Misty Williams and husband Michael, Todd McDonald, Jr., Jessica McManus, Justin McDonald, Stuart McDonald; great grandchildren, Audrey, Ava, Alaina Williams, Tristin, Emilee, Layla and Solomon McDonald and Matthew McDonald; Special friends Marty Steffenson and Tim Goodwin.
Pallbearers will be Marty Steffenson, Anthony Pesnell, Stan Hargett, Orie Hatten, Steve Horne and Clint Cole.
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Wednesday April 25, 2018 at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
