Funeral services celebrating the life of Mary Elizabeth Jowers Whitehead, 90, of West Monroe, LA, will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, August 26, 2018, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Michael Stravato and Rev. John Edward Jowers officiating. Interment will follow in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Whitehead was born June 30, 1928, and passed away on August 23, 2018.
She was a retired Secretary with Louisiana Power and Light, and attended Family Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mary Jowers; husband, Mitchell Whitehead; brothers, Jewel and wife Velma, Horace and wife Louise, John and wife Carolyn, Clarence and wife Bessie, Raymond and wife Bernice; sisters, Margarette and husband Tommy Roberts, Irene and husband R.G. Simmons, and Evelyn Jowers; two great grandsons, Kyle Beaux Phillips, and Brian Mitchell Whitehead; sister-in-law, Dorothy Bishop.
Survivors include her son, Barry Lynn Whitehead and wife Jeanie; two granddaughters, Sheila and husband Landel Hamm, and Samantha Cobb (Mandy); one grandson, Brian Whitehead; nine great grandchildren, Richard Hamm, Kacee Hamm Gilbert, Danny Phillips, Savannah Phillips, Macy Whitehead, Harley Cobb, and Alayah McKnight; great-great grandchildren, Raelin Hamm, and soon to be Baby Pardue; daughter and son-in-love, Janice and Michael Bearden; sisters-in-law, Laverne Wright and Melba Bonnett; special friends, Oscar Lee “Rat” Townsend, and Sharon Case; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Alec Jalaldin, Hayden Pardue, David “Bubba” Jowers, Gary Roberts, Scotti Jowers and John Edward Jowers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Oscar Townsend, Michael Bearden, Buddy Sullivan, A.J. Bradford, Larry Cooper and Donnie Jowers.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
Memorials may be made to Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
