Mary Elizabeth Holloway Newcomer

February 16, 1927 — November 25, 2011

Mary Elizabeth Holloway Newcomer, 84, of Monroe, LA, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, November 25, 2011.
Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Anyone who knew Mary knew her love for God, family and friends.  She devoted much of her time and energy to her church and the well being of her family after retiring with over 30 years of service from South Central Bell telephone company.  She spent most of her life in Monroe and West Monroe, Louisiana and moved to Newport News, Virginia in 2008 to live with her son and family.  She was a long time member of Lea Joyner Memorial Methodist Church in Monroe, LA and of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Newport News, VA.  Mary was loved by all who knew her.

Mary was born to the late Philmore Holloway and Nancy McManus Holloway on February 16, 1927 in Harrisonburg, LA.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eugene Newcomer Sr. and nine siblings.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Scott Alan Mounger and wife, Monica; three grandsons, Kyle, Michal and Evan Mounger; three great grandchildren, Carson, Brody and Kylie Mounger,  three step-sons, Bradley Newcomer and wife Anita, Bruce Newcomer and wife Jan, and Robert E. Newcomer Jr. and wife Cyndy; two step-grandchildren, Tracey and Robert Newcomer; a step-grandson, Austin; many nieces and nephews; and three long haired miniature dachshunds, Maxwell, Sophia and Avigail.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM  to 7:00 PM Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.  The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, December 1, 2011, at the Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church, Monroe, LA with Rev. Joe Solomon and Rev. Larry Odell officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
