Memorial services for Mary Catherine Riser, 77, of West Monroe, will be held at 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 3, 2018, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe with Rev. Cecil Herrington officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 2:00 P.M. until service time at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.

Mrs. Riser was born on January 11, 1941, in Ouachita Parish and passed away on October 1, 2018, in West Monroe, LA.

Mrs. Riser was a member of the West Heights Missionary Baptist Church in West Monroe. She was a business owner for many years in Ouachita Parish. She loved to travel and visit her children and grandchildren from Alaska to Connecticut to Texas. Mrs. Riser made and sold arts and crafts, enjoyed her bowling leagues and loved playing cards with family and friends. She loved and missed her husband Thomas, to whom she was married for 55 years She is preceded in death by her parents, Duke and Evelyn Medaries; her husband, Melvin Thomas Riser; and sisters-in-law, Louise Danna and Marjorie Dunn.

Survivors include her sons, Melvin Thomas Riser (Minna) Mike Riser (Terri), Mark Riser (Harriet) and Matt Riser; her grandchildren, Maya, Asha, Ethan, Seth, Peter, Helen and Dalton Riser; great grandchild, Trip Riser; brothers, Jerry Medaries, and Larry Medaries; sister, Jo Ellen LaGow; and numerous nieces and nephews.
