Mary Ann Johnson BakerMulhearn Funeral HomeWest Monroe, LA Graveside Service to honor the life of Mrs. Mary Ann Johnson Baker, 93, will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Calhoun with Rev. Bill Lovett officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.Mrs. Baker was born June 1, 1921 in Homer, LA to the union of Patrick Henry Johnson and Elouise Moreland Johnson and peacefully passed away January 10, 2015. She had two brothers, Andrew and Pat and one sister, Anita Johnson Olds. Mrs. Baker graduated from Homer High School and also from Alexandria Business College. She met her husband, Ben in Alexandria, LA and they were married just prior to his leaving to serve 3 years in the South Pacific during World War II. Mrs. Baker served as financial secretary at First Baptist Church in Monroe for 14 years and bookkeeper for the Animal Hospital in West Monroe until she retired. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ben Ray Baker.Survivors include her sons, Dr. William B. Baker and wife Virginia, and James Ray Baker; grandson, Matthew Wesley Baker and wife Rebecca; granddaughter, Lauren Baker Wall and husband Stephan; two great-grandsons, Cole and Jacob; great-granddaughter, Katie; sister-in-law, Jane Douglass Baker; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Baker resided at the Arbor/Terrace of West Monroe for the last 5 years, where she was lovingly cared for by the staff. She made many friends there both with the staff and the other residents. She will be missed. Mrs. Baker had several friends who visited her these past few years and they are, Frankie Wilson, Betty Brindle, Dr. Jennifer David, Annette Freeman, Bette Jones, Kay Rigal, Bobbie Wilson and Lawana Folse.She will be remembered for her sweet disposition and her friendly smile. Her family is greatly comforted in knowing she is at home with her Savior. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
