Funeral services for Mary Alice Campbell, 91, of Monroe, will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. John Mark Little, Rev. Benton Moore, and Marcia Williamson officiating. Private interment will be at Delhi Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mary Alice was born at home in Choudrant, LA. She graduated from Delhi High School, Northeast Jr. College, and Louisiana Tech. She began her career as a Home Demonstration Agent with the LSU Extension Service and later taught Home Economics at Fort Necessity High School. Her greatest joy in life was serving and helping others.
Mrs. Campbell passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Christus St. Joseph’s Assisted Living.
Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph McLeese O’Neal and Ila Edmiston O’Neal; brothers, J. Paul O’Neal and wife Ruth Gowan O’Neal, Fred McLeese O’Neal and wife Mary Lanier O’Neal, and John Hardin O’Neal, and husband of 64 years, Wilby Clement Campbell.
Survivors include one son, Wilby O’Neal Campbell and wife Carol Benoit Campbell; one grandson, Brian Michael Campbell and wife Holly Husted Campbell; one granddaughter, Jennifer Campbell Brown and husband Sperry Brown, Jr.; five great grandchildren, Braeden, Bennett and Samantha Brown, and Will and Thomas Campbell; sister-in-law, Pauline Dearman O’Neal; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Massey, Joe Foy, Raymond Roberts, James E. Wooldridge, and nephews, Joe Mack O’Neal, John O’Neal, Greg O’Neal, Bill O’Neal, and David O’Neal.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 PM until service time at Victory Baptist Church.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Sister Elizabeth and Christus St. Joseph’s Assisted Living and staff, St. Joseph’s Skill Care, Dr. David Yarbrough and staff, Tommie Nolan, RN, Amedisys Home Health, Dr. Jesse LaPietra and St. Francis Cath Lab, and caregivers Mary and Alberta. A very Special Thank You to Shannon Newton and St. Joseph Hospice for their love and care. Also, a Special Thanks to the Med Nurse Service under the direction of Kate Wiley, RN.
