Marvin "Gene" Taunton, Sr.

Funeral services for Marvin “Gene” Taunton, Sr., 86, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 23, 2018, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, with Fr. Philip Theempalangattu officiating. A Rosary will be at 9:00 AM, Monday, led by Deacon Scott Brandle, with a visitation following until service time, at the funeral home. Private family interment will be in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Taunton was born September 4, 1931 and passed away July 20, 2018. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and retired from Angus/Dow Chemical.

Mr. Taunton was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver D. Taunton and Minnie Ola Graves Taunton; brother, Lucien Taunton; and sister, Alene Lewis.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Eva V. Taunton; 3 sons, Marvin Taunton, Jr. and wife Rita, Kenneth Taunton and wife Verena, and Bruce Taunton; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and sister, Helen Grantham.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
