Funeral services for Mr. Marvin Frank Burgess, 83, of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 26, 2009, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Rev. Howard Hudson officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:00 PM Friday at Memorial Gardens in Hot Springs, AR.
Mr. Burgess passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009. He was manager of Safeway Food for over 30 years, and owner/operator of Nickie’s Lounge for many years. Mr. Burgess was Past Post Commander of Amvets Post 5 and Post 66, a veteran of the U. S. Army during WWII, and former member of Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his three sons, Dr. Robert L. Burgess and wife Peggy, James W. Burgess and wife Paula, and Marvin Jonathan Brazzel; step daughter, Rhonda Bennett; step son, Randy Woods; brother, Dr. Edward Lee Burgess and wife Joyce; sister, Mary Lou Meredith and husband A.J.; sister-in-law, Sue Burgess; grandchildren, Shawn O’Guinn, Eric Burgess, Christy Kelly, Karen Wise, Jana King, and Kasey King; four great grandchildren, Drew and Caroline Kelly, and Walker and Sarah Blake Wise; and special friend, Liz Rankin.
Pallbearers will be Chris Nolen, Robert Welch, John “Nubbin” Harrell, Danny Reeves, Terry Culver, and Billy Edwards.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
