Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Marvin F. Head, Sr., 82, of West Monroe, LA will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday June 23, 2014 at McClendon Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Kevin Stewart and Rev. James Gardner officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
Mr. Head was born on February 10, 1932 in Sikes, LA, and passed away on June 21, 2014 in West Monroe, LA.
Mr. Head was a member of McClendon Baptist Church. He retired as a Supervisor at Graphic Packaging Company. Mr. Head was a member of the founding members of the Boys & Girls Club of West Monroe. He was very active as a coach and board member of West Monroe Dixie Youth, Dixie Boys, and Dixie Seniors baseball. Marvin was a coach of the 70’s Dixie Sr. Major baseball where they won the State Championship 3 years and went to the World Series in Mississippi 2 years. He was a member of the Barak Shriners and the Cadeville Masonic Lodge. Marvin served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Modell Head; sister, Clotile McMullen; and
Parents, Doc Head and Etta Head May.
Survivors: Wife, Mrs. Christy Head; Sons, Don C. Head and wife Donna, and Marvin F. Head Jr.; Step Son, Denver Mercer; Grandchildren, Jamie Lee, Marvin F. Head, III, Ashley Dickens, Brittney Head, Blake Head, Lindsay Head and Katelyn Head; Great Grandchildren, Landon Head, Kinsley Head, Drake Harrell, Conner Dickens, Braden Head and Ema Grace Lee; Sisters, Versie Mae Caples and Helen Whitlock; Brother-in-law who was considered a brother to Marvin; Homer Craig; Mother-in-law, Lucy McNeil; Brother-in-Law & Sister-in-Law, Cathy and Richard Yelverton; numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church on Monday June 23, 2014.
Pallbearers will be Robert Eldridge, Johnny Trichel, Blake Head, Michael Tolbird, Chris Dickens and Tim Lee.
Memorials may be made to the McClendon Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA.
Special blessings to Eydie Roark and Shonya Gipson for the special care they gave to Mr. Head.
