Memorial services celebrating the life of Mrs. Martha Janette Bennett, 89, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 27, 2020, at the North Monroe Baptist Church West Sanctuary in Monroe, LA, with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Bennett died January 25, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Bennett was born in Ruleville, MS to the union of Marshall and Mary Martha Smith. She was a registered nurse, attending the Leflore Hospital School of Nursing in Greenwood, MS, and received her certification at the St. Mary’s School of Nursing, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MI, where she assisted Dr. Mayo in surgeries during her training. Martha was a long-time member of North Monroe Baptist Church where she served in various capacities. She was very dedicated in visiting the members of North Monroe who were in the hospital, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. Martha was a dedicated volunteer with the Ouachita Parish Food Bank, Rolling Hills Ministry, and Grace Place Ministry. She was a very loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Charles Robert Bennett, Sr.

Ditta, Chuck Bennett and wife, Beverly, Mary Jane Thomas and husband, Byron, Steve Bennett and wife, C.J., Claire Fincher and husband, Dr. Richard, and Carol Ann Hoover and husband, Dale; grandchildren, Danielle Ditta Rosenblath and husband, Jordan, Clay Bennett and Phyllis, Brett Bennett, Devin Campbell and wife, Ashley, Payton Campbell, Andy and Paige Nugent, Colby Thomas, Seth Thomas and wife, Courtney, Joey Hudman and wife, Joanna, Matthew Bennett, Sarah Henry and husband, Stephen, Halie Harrell Coleman and husband, Curtis, Chad Harrell and wife, Shannon, Caleb Harrell, Emily Harrell, Justin Cardella, Avery Hoover, and Price Hoover; great-grandchildren, Roux Rosenblath, Zoey, Knox, and Issac Bennett, Riley and Luke Nugent, Slayter and Sylvia Sue Thomas, Sebastian and Juliana Hudman, Logan, Gavin, and Colten Bennett, Megan, David, Luke, Savannah, Madelyn, and Lela Coleman; great-great-grandson, Levi Coleman.
Visitation will be Monday from Noon until service time at North Monroe Baptist Church West Sanctuary.
Memorials may be made to North Monroe Baptist Church, Ouachita Parish Food Bank, Grace Place Ministry, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
