Funeral service for Mr. Mark Timothy Matthews, 63, of Monroe, LA, will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 10, 2021, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe with Rev. Dr. Alan Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Gwin Cemetery in Mangham, LA. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Mark was born on January 16, 1958, in Natchitoches, LA, and passed away on April 5, 2021, in Monroe. He was a marketing manager with Nutrients Ag Services. He was preceded in death by his father, William Gene Matthews.
Most people know Mark as an avid hunter and outdoorsman, but many more know him because of his outstanding cooking and crawfish boils. His friends would say that he was fun-loving and warm-hearted. Mark’s family knew him as the fairest and most dependable person in the room. In his own words, he “never wrote a check that he couldn’t cash.” Mark was a huge part of the agriculture community in North Louisiana for more than 40 years and loved his work family like his own kin. If you knew Mark then your conversation would always end with “10-4, 10-4.”
Survivors include his wife, Angela Coronado Matthews; son, Austin Matthews, and husband Matthew; mother, Bonnie Nell Matthews; brother, Gene McDavid, and wife Debbie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James Harp, Steven Crews, Mike Benton, Michael Phillips, Tom Clark, and Tony Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Knippers, Michael Grayson, Jason Myze, and George Young.
