Services for Marion Edward (Bubbie) Shelton, 70 of Gilbert, LA will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro with Rev. Wayne Smith officiating. Burial will be in Chase Cemetery, Chase, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Bubbie died December 30 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Monroe after a short illness. He was born on August 18, 1941.
He had been a resident of Plantation Manor Nursing home for the past 10 years and enjoyed spending time with his family; especially eating delicious meals prepared by his brother and sister-in-law Marshall and Patti Shelton who provided exceptional care for him. He attended elementary school in Gilbert and participated in a number of special needs programs in Northeast Louisiana. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gilbert where he served as an honorary deacon. He was helpful to many people in Gilbert by performing various odd jobs around town for many years.
Mr. Shelton was preceded in death by his parents by his parents, Marion and Emma Lofton Shelton.
He is survived by his twin brother, Marshall Shelton and his wife Patti of Chase, sister Katie Shelton Chiasson and her husband, Larry of Crowley; one aunt, Mrs. Mary L. Penny of Baton Rouge, eight nieces and nephews Billy and Carla Shelton of Hot Springs, Arkansas; Jamie and Carol Ann Shelton of Pineville, Angie Shelton Snuggs and her husband Todd of Winnsboro, Brent and Nancy Reeves of Guatemala City, Guatemala, Matthew and Ashley Reeves of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Chris and Rachel Chiasson of Crowley, Heather Chiasson Poe and her husband Russell of Haughton and Ashley Kate Chiasson of Iota.
In addition he is survived by twelve great nieces and nephews, and two great-great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Billy Shelton, Jamie Shelton, Chris Chiasson, Todd Snuggs, Joey Snuggs and Clark Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are Walter Shelton, Brent Reeves, Matthew Reeves, Noah Shelton and Russell Poe.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 1 and from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
