Marion E. Hinckley

Marion E. Hinckley, 89, of West Monroe, passed away Monday, September 26, 2011, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center. She had been a resident at The Oaks for 2 years. Visitation will be at 5:00 PM in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe on Friday, September 30. A memorial service will follow at 6:30 PM with Rev. David Brown officiating.

Marion was born July 29, 1922 to Walter E. and Annie Mae Hinckley, one of 4 children. She graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1940 and attended Business School. Marion worked for the People’s Homestead for over 30 years and retired in 1987. She enjoyed family, genealogy, church, travel, and playing cards with her friends. She was a faithful member of Ridge Avenue Baptist Church.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Walter Hinckley; a sister, Lucille Spears; a nephew, Paul Fields; and 2 nieces, Susan Hinckley and Cheryl Norton.

She is survived by her sister, Mildred Fields (Salem, OR); sister-in-law, Sue Hinckley (Monroe); 2 nieces, Linda Roberts (Fairbanks) and Jill Korn (Monroe); 4 nephews, Nelson Jones (Morgan City), Mark and Kerrick Fields (Salem, OR) and David Hinckley (Monroe); a cousin, Marjorie Terry (Nacogdoches, TX); 9 great nieces and nephews, and 7 great-great nieces and nephews, and a “sister” friend, Jean Genaris.

Marion’s ashes will be placed in the family plot in Hasley Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to Ridge Avenue Baptist Church.
