Marilyn Harper SartorMulhearn Funeral HomeWest Monroe, LA Marilyn Harper Sartor passed away on April 20, 2015, in McKinney, Texas, following a brief battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at the Mulhearn Funeral Home, 300 McMillan Rd, West Monroe, Louisiana, on Saturday, April 25, at 2 p.m with Rev. Neil Everett and Dr. Lionel Crowell officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 24, from 6-8 p.m. Private burial will be at Alto Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. Marilyn was born on October 26, 1930, in Mangham, Louisiana, to her parents, Emmanuel Claiborne Harper and Leota Lunsford Harper. She and her sister grew up in Mangham, Louisiana, where they often helped their father as he owned the only pharmacy in town. She graduated in 1948 from Mangham High School and went on to attend college at the University of Mississippi, “Ole Miss”, where she graduated in 1952 with a degree in Home Economic Education. While in seventh grade, Marilyn met George M. Sartor, an eighth grader, and following a lengthy courtship they married on Thanksgiving Day in 1953, while he was attending LSU Medical School in New Orleans. They relocated to Shreveport and later to Laredo, Texas, before finally settling in West Monroe, Louisiana, in 1963, where they raised their six children. Marilyn and George were members of the Ridge Avenue Baptist Church and later First Baptist Church of West Monroe. Marilyn was a very devoted wife and mother, who provided a Christian home for the family, teaching Christian values by her example. She enjoyed various social organizations, including the Trenton Society Book Club and Bridge Club. Marilyn and George moved to McKinney, Texas, in 2006 to be near family in the Dallas area. They have been actively involved with their family and friends in Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church of McKinney. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Jeannine Meriam Harper. She is survived by her husband, George M. Sartor MD, daughter Linda Sartor Choate (husband Michael), son George M. Sartor II (wife Paula), daughter Nora Sartor Frederick, son Claiborne H. Sartor (wife Vickie), daughter Marilyn Dianne Stephenson (husband Reggie), and son Paul Emmett Sartor (wife Serena). Marilyn was the grandmother of Amanda Choate Rengifo (husband Dan), Jeannine Choate McGown (husband Simon), Suzanne Choate, Tracy Sartor Novak (husband Neal), Ashley Sartor Aguilar, Sydney Sartor Arnett (husband Bradley), Georgianne Sartor, Hannah Frederick, and (twins) Sierra and Hailey Sartor. Additional grandchildren include: Karlee Stephenson, Dustin Posey (wife Kristin), and Lisa Marie McMillan (husband Chad).
