Memorial services for Mrs. Marilea Avon Critcher Bryant, 85, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 11, 2020, St. Thomas Episcopal Church with Rev. Dawnell Stodghill officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA. Interment will follow at the St. Thomas Episcopal Chapel Columbarium.
Mrs. Bryant was born October 23, 1935, In Hartsville, South Carolina, and passed away December 7, 2020, in Monroe, LA. She grew up on a family farm that stretched from Darlington to Florence, South Carolina that produced wheat and tobacco. Mrs. Bryant attended the University of South Carolina, as a business major, where she met her husband, Herbert Bryant at a YMCA 4th of July party. Marilea and Herbert married on, August 15, 1956, in Florence, South Carolina. She enjoyed playing the piano, and she also played the organ at the family Methodist Church in Darlington, South Carolina. Mrs. Bryant had a lifetime affection for all animals, especially cats.
Mrs. Bryant is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Herbert Bryant PhD; Her parents, Harry Schley Critcher and Charlotte Carol Blackman; brother, Joseph Critcher; sisters Helen Critcher Jeffords, and Harriett Critcher Kirven.
Survivors include her children, Caroline Bryant Baker and husband Timothy, Bert Bryant and wife Denise; grand-daughter, Leslie DeLozier and husband Beau; great granddaughter, Riley DeLozier; and brother-in-law, Van Glover.
Mrs. Bryant will be greatly missed and loved by all. The family is especially grateful for the helping hands of Dee Dee, Barbara, William, and caring neighbor, Ricky.
