Marie Rathburn Pomeroy

A private family service for Marie Rathburn Pomeroy, 80, of Monroe, will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019, at Grace Episcopal Church in Monroe, LA. A celebration of her life will be held at her home to include family and friends at 2:00 PM, 1808 Townhouse Circle, Monroe, LA 71201.
Mrs. Pomeroy was born in Swainsboro, GA on June 28, 1939, and passed away in Monroe on December 19, 2019 following a lengthy illness. After the passing of her parents, Marie spent her formative years living with her aunt and uncle, Dr. and Mrs. Fred O. Trotter, in Hendersonville, NC. After graduating high school, she attended college at Lees - McRae in Banner Elk, NC. She retired from a successful career at DB Real Estate, where she became a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Club and mentored real estate professionals. She was a longtime member of Grace Episcopal Church where she served as a member of the Order of the Daughters of the King and the altar guild. Mrs. Pomeroy was also a member of the Women’s Council of Realtors and Monroe/West Monroe Board of Realtors. She enjoyed mission work and playing in her bridge club.
Mrs. Pomeroy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Vera Rathburn.
Survivors include daughters, Gari Surguine - Baton Rouge, LA and Ruth Wilkerson (Richard) - Vicksburg, MS; step-daughter, Patty Barnes (Randy) - West Monroe, LA; brother, William Rathburn- Mineola, TX; longtime companion, Billy Caldwell; Billy’s son and daughter, Spencer Caldwell - Monroe, LA and Sabrina Wikle (John) - Hixon, TN; grandchildren, George and Gordon Wilkerson - Vicksburg, MS, Emily Cambre (Mark) - Harvey, LA.
