Margie Louise Wood

Funeral service for Mrs. Louise Wood, 94, of Monroe, LA, will be 2:00PM Wednesday November 20, 2024, at New Light Baptist Church in Monroe with Rev. Lindle Stewart officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe. Interment will be in New Light Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00PM until service time on Wednesday at the church. 

Mrs. Wood was the oldest living Founding member of New Light Baptist Church, where she taught Bible School and sang in the choir. She worked at the Green Stamp Store for many years and later worked for Super 1 Foods until she retired. Mrs. Wood was the caretaker for any family member in need. She was also known for her wonderful biscuits. 

Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her parents. Lincoln and Lucille Telano; husband, Calvin Wood; children, Joe Neil Wood, Angie Plag, and Judith Dean Wood; brothers, Christopher Telano, Earl Telano, and Garland “Buddy” Telano; and sisters, Mary Lynn Porter and Christine Donley. 

Survivors include her children, David Ray Wood (Noel), Calvin Lester Wood (Delores), and Charlie Wood (Sharon May); grandchildren, Wesley Wood (Jessica), Brandi Wood, Matthew Wood (Meg), Mandy Ueda (Nick), Caleb Wood (Jescel), Jacob Wood, Katie Wood, Jason Wood (Trudy), Crystal Wood, Kristin Plag, Gracie Rowton, Holly Rowton, and Raeley Rowton; great grandchildren, Amanda Ueda, Juliet Ueda, Nora Joy Ueda, Addie Wood, Dylan Beavers, Ashlyn Nolan, Zach Wood, Nick Wood, Sam Wood, Hunter Fant, Taylor Fant, Hailey Fant, Madelyn Wood, Emma Wood, and Lily Wood; brother, Teddy Joe Telano (Bobbie) and numerous great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers will be Jason Wood, Matthew Wood, Dylan Beavers, Wesley Wood, Caleb Wood and Jacob Wood. 

The Wood family would like to express a special thanks and appreciation to Savannah Grand and the loving staff. 

Memorials may be made to New Light Baptist Church in Monroe.
