Funeral services celebrating the life of Margie Tippen, 98, of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 10, 2025 at Beacon Church of Christ with Bill Schooley and Jarrod Schooley officiating and Xander Schooley leading song. Interment will follow immediately after at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. The visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Margie Anding Tippen was born on June 25, 1926, in West Monroe, Louisiana and passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025, at her home surrounded by family.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Lesley Tippen, a son, Lesley Jerry Tippen, her parents, Johnny and Mellie Anding, sisters Leatrice Roy and Betty Marine Rawls, brothers Charles Ray Anding, Troy Elvin Anding and Roy Melvin Anding, a son-in-law, James Dewey Young.
She is survived by daughters, Bettie Young, Sharon Schooley (Bill), Lisa Morris (Kerry), 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 32 great great grandchildren and one great great great grandchild.
Margie will be remembered as a Christian inspiration to all. Although she left school at age 15 to become a war time bride to Lesley Tippen, she went back to classes to receive a GED at age 35 which led to an insurance career of over 50 years. Prior to that she had sold Avon and ran a country store for several years.
She was a member of Beacon church of Christ for over sixty years where she taught children’s classes as well as Ladies Bible Classes. She always emphasized obedience to Christ’s will, and dressing modestly, and loving and forgiving.
Pallbearers will be Neal Schooley, Will Carroll, Andrew Brown, Ben Bohannon, Bryant Boyd, Chip Boyd, Chris Whitlock and Kerry Morris. The Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Culp, Jamie Parks and John Pistol Carter.
Margie was a very strong person, having survived 2 heart attacks, 2 strokes, 2 broken hips, broken leg and wrist, several bouts of double pneumonia, sepsis and COVID. She always bounced back and went back to work. People often asked her, “When are you going to retire?” She would reply “When you see my obituary in the paper!” Well…Margie Tippen has retired!
