On November 30, 2007, Margaret Hesketh, lovingly known as “Mom”, “MeMaw”, Great Grandma and Great MeMaw, age 93, was called home to eternal life. Though the dust will return to the earth as it was, her spirit will return to God who gave it. Ecclesiastes 12:7.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 3, 2007, at the Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Weldon Bares, Rev. Joe Solomon, and Rev. Betty Swanson officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 11:30 AM until time for the funeral.
Margaret was born on July 10, 1914, in Pawtucket, RI, to George and Margaret Scawthorn. She was a faithful member of the Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for about 40 years, sang in the Chancel and Young at Heart Choirs, and was a member of most of the committees and organizations of the church. She retired from Hancock Martin Equipment Company where she was a secretary, and then volunteered in the church office.
Survivors include her daughters, Elaine Chapman of Monroe, and Judy Stone and husband Ron Stone of Plano, TX; grandchildren, Chris Bragg of Tyler, TX, Mark Chapman and wife Chris Chapman of Greer, SC, and Amy Patton and husband J.D. Patton of Austin, TX; great grandchildren, Carly and Carson Chapman of Greer, SC, Zachary, Hannah, and Sarah Bragg of West Monroe, LA, and Ayla and Garin Patton of Austin, TX.
Pallbearers will be Ron Stone, Chris Bragg, J.D. Patton, Mark Chapman, Ray Swanson, and Fred Hancock.
The family would like to give special thanks to Alice May for being a good friend to their mother for many years.
Any planned memorials may be made to the Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church New Building Fund.
