Margaret Lynn O’Steen Fawbush was born on May 16, 1953, in Denver, Colorado. She passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on July 28, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. Margaret was strong in her faith. She was saved and baptized at the age of 14. In fact, she was the first person to be baptized in Montgomery Street Church of God’s new baptistery in 1967. Margaret attended church there for many years before moving to the Assembly. She loved and missed the church family that she grew up with so much that she organized the “Old Friends Get Together.” Not only did getting together give us the opportunity to fellowship and eat a meal together, but it also gave us the opportunity to catch up on what was going on in everyone’s lives and remember and share stories of our past. Margaret cherished the friendships and fellowship because of the bond it built with those who attended. She was always coming up with wonderful places for the old friends to gather and celebrate our lives. Everyone knew if there was a need all they had to do was call an Old Friend and ask them to pray. Those of us who attended “Old Friends Get Together” appreciated Margaret’s dedication to keeping this group going.
Margaret worked as a nurse for 40 plus years before retiring, with most of those years at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, Louisiana. She also worked at several doctor’s offices and rehabilitation centers in the Monroe area as well as in Texas. She loved taking care of people. Margaret also loved to paint pictures and do arts and crafts, but her greatest joy in life was her family and hearing her seven grandsons call her “Gammy.”
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard E. and Margaret “Patsy” Tillman O’Steen from Monroe, Louisiana; her brother, Marvin D. O’Steen, from Charlotte, N.C.; and her sister, Drucilla O’Steen Steger, from West Monroe, Louisiana; Quincy D. Baker, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Fawbush; her sons, Jonathan Baker and wife, Tiffany, Quentin Baker and wife, Shalia, and James Baker and wife, Kim; her daughter; Margaret Elizabeth Baker Folden; her grandsons: Jonah and Jace Baker, West Monroe, La; Cody, Kaden and Jacob Baker, Odessa, Texas; Charles and Quincy Folden, Shirley, Ark; her sisters, Marlene O’Steen Woods, Bessemer City, N.C.; Joyce O’Steen Merkle, Jacksonville, Florida; and Michaele O’Steen Price, West Monroe, Louisiana: many nieces and nephews.
