Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a graveside service for Mrs. Mamie Ruth Harrington, 91, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 29, 2022, Loch Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery in Swartz, LA, with Reverend William Sikes officiating.
Mamie was born on September 5, 1930, to Sidney Richard Dumas and Ethel Cook Dumas, and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. She was a native of Farmerville, Louisiana but spent most of her life in Monroe, LA. Mamie and her husband of 52 years, Harry Hamilton Harrington, had one son, Harold Hamilton Harrington.
After retirement from the Orthopedic Clinic in Monroe, Mamie enjoyed spending time with family and friends that were like family, traveling, her Sunday school class at First Baptist Church of Swartz, and playing cards with friends. She loved good food and was always ready to go out to eat. But above all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was at the top of her list of favorite things!
Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; parents, Sidney and Ethel Dumas; brother, Theo Dumas; sisters, Pauline Dumas Glass, Vera Dumas Glass, Inez Dumas Owens, and Estelle Dumas Monferdine.
Left to cherish Mamie’s memory is her son, Harold Harrington (Lorraine) of Waterford, CT; granddaughters, Hollie Daniel (Allen) of Monroe, LA and Chrissy LaPlante (Rob) of Waterford, CT; great grandsons, Ben and Beau Daniel and J. R. LaPlante; nieces, Ann Sargent (Bill) and Deborah Balch (Sambo); and nephew, Jim Glass.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Judy Davis for her love and care for Mamie over the last few years.
We will miss Mamie dearly, but we are so grateful for the time we had to spend with her. We will always remember her kind spirit, sweet smile and love for the simple pleasures in life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.
