Funeral services for Maggie (Doll) Smith, 78, of Monroe, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Peter Rock Baptist Church in Monroe, LA, with Rev. Timothy Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Richwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Doll was born July 19, 1939, to the late Perlina Holland. On Monday, April 9, 2018, God departed his angels to bring Sister Doll to her new home to rest. Doll was a member of the Peter Rock Baptist Church in Monroe, LA. Sister Doll accepted Christ Jesus and became a member of the Peter Rock Baptist Church until her passing. She served as the President of the Usher Board and Pastors Aide Committee until her health failed her. Sister Doll was known for her beautiful touches on flowers. She worked at the Mulhearn Flower Shop, where she became a part of their family. She retired after forty years of service.
She leaves to cherish her memories her four daughters, Shirley Ross, Linda Bursey, Cynthia “Rene” Baker (Marcus), and Stacie Jackson (Stacey); two sons, Charles Bursey (Vanessa), and Michael Bursey, all of Monroe, LA; one brother, John Ward (Mariah); two sisters, Henrietta Nash, and Charlene McMillian; thirty grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her church family.
Pallbearers will be Alvin Johnson, Antonio Johnson, Ceddrick Bursey, Sr., Marcus Baker, Lorenzo Jackson, Benndraus Smith, and Lee Dickens.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, April 13, 2018, at Peter Rock Baptist Church in Monroe, LA.
