Lurline Howard Slocum

Funeral Services for Lurline Howard Slocum, 92, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Community Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Danny McIlveene officiating. Interment will follow in Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens Cemetery in West Monroe, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.

Lurline Howard Slocum was born June 7, 1925, in Ruston, LA, and passed away January 17, 2018. She was a member of Community Baptist Church in West Monroe. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lurline was involved in home demonstration, playing pokeno with friends, traveling, and enjoyed her four legged friend, Roxie.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Maloy Slocum; her parents, Jack and Tinnie Bell Howard; sisters, Gladys McCurry, Jeffie Middleton and Lithy Otwell; and brothers, Richard Howard, Frank Howard, Levelle Howard, Velton Howard and Doyle Howard.

Survivors include her children, Linda Price and husband Leon, Steven Slocum and wife Julia and Greg Slocum and wife Tammy; seven grandchildren, Jason Price and wife Kasey of Sterlington, Tracey Price Kuykendall and husband Chris of Alexandria, Andy Slocum of Las Vegas, Ashley Slocum of Las Vegas, Matt Slocum of West Monroe, Kristin Slocum Hill and husband Kyle of West Monroe, and Alayna Slocum Eley and husband David of West Monroe; seven great grandchildren, Kaden Kuykendall, Karson Kuykendall, Lillie Price, Gracie Price, Spencer Hill, Jude Hill and Gavin Eley; brother, Dick Howard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ted Howard, Jimmy Howard, Jackie Howard, Mike Howard, Bart Davis, Randal Howard, and Brad Howard.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time on Sunday at the church.

The family would like to give thanks to Margaret Finister and Demitri Reynolds, who have done so much for her in the last four years. They meant so much to her during those times.
