Funeral services for Loyd B. Duffey, Sr., 95, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 30, 2011, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Jerry T. Whitman officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Duffey was born on April 10, 1915 and passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the Louisiana War Veterans Home. He was raised and lived on Prairie Road for years before moving to Lake D’Arbonne, where he lived with his loving wife Violet. He resided at the Louisiana War Veterans Home for the last three years. Mr. Duffey worked on the pipeline for years. He loved to woodwork, garden, visit with people, but most of all he loved his family.
Mr. Duffey was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Duffey; father, Claude Duffey; mother, Emma Duffey Deats; stepfather, Joe Deats; children, Barbara Jane Duffey, and Loyd B. Duffey, Jr. and wife Jean; grandson, Brian Nikki Smith; and two brothers, Donald Duffey and wife Virginia, and Frank Duffey.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-eight years, Violet Duffey; sister, Catherine Heard; son, Doug Duffey; daughter, Sue Dodd and husband Norman; stepson, Nick Cagle and wife Donna; stepdaughter, Shelia Hammontree and husband Sammie; step-daughter-in-law, Leona Cagle; and grandchildren, Donovan Smith, Billy Duffey, Lori Anderson, and Cathy Young; five step grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bill Duffey, Darryl Cagle, Tim Cagle, Sam Hammontree, Jr., Alan Fiveash, and Michah Cagale.
Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
