Visitation and Services for Lovie Louise Price Fomby will be held at Lakeshore Baptist Church, Monroe, La. on Saturday, March 5th, 2022. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. until the service at 11:00. In honor of her favorite color and her home going celebration, the family asks that something red be worn.
Lovie was born on October 13th, 1926 in Utica, Mississippi and entered into rest on February 25th, 2022. She was predeceased by her husband, her daughter, Cindy Fomby Dickinson, her grandson Nicholas Brady, and eleven siblings. She is survived by one sister, Mable Robison, her daughter, Linda Fomby Brady, son in law Dennis Dickinson, and grandchildren Kristen Kara Brady, Ehren Shane Brady, wife Claire, and great grandchildren Arika Lilley, Taylor Williams, Stephen, Anderson and Graham Naegle, and Roman Nicholas Brady, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was raised in a large, happy farming family during the depression years and World War II, at the end of which she met the love of her life, Robert Laurence Fomby. Their marriage lasted 72 years from the wedding of October 14th, 1945 until Robert’s passing in 2017.
Lovie was a Biblical virtuous woman who devoted her life to her family and then to her church family. She was a homemaker who doted on her husband, raised their daughters with him, and later enjoyed many happy times with their grandchildren. She and Robert doted on each grandchild and gave them many happy memories to cherish. Lovie was a gifted seamstress and in the last decades became a talented quilter with many treasures given to and left for family and friends. Her cooking and baking were legendary throughout the Lakeshore community where she was noted for generously sharing her treasured cakes, pies, cookies, and other dishes for celebrations, as well as in times of sorrow or need. She loved decorating Lakeshore Baptist Church at Christmas with her participation for many years with the celebration of the “Hanging of the Green” and always provided her dishes at every church function until she could no longer do so. She compiled church cookbooks as fund raisers for the church library, and was a fixture as the devoted volunteer church librarian for many years. Many adults will also remember her teaching them in her Sunday School and Vacation Bible school classes. As one might guess, she was an avid reader and loved books all her life.
If desired in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Lakeshore Baptist Church. The family would like to express special thanks to the devoted help and care of Adara Price, great niece, special friends Lauretta Tucker and Maryann Butler, longtime neighbors Effie Bailey and Jeannette Henderson and our angel caregivers Barbara Lawrence and Charnee Grace.
