Lori Ann Hancock Hofler, a homemaker, made her entrance into this world on August 22, 1964 and went to her eternal home on February 26, 2014. Known for her ability to make friends and fill silence wherever she went, she was never without someone to talk to. She lived by the creed “There are no strangers, just friends whose names I’ve not yet learned”. Born with a love of crafts, her handmade gifts and cross-stitched artwork grace the homes of many around town. She truly had the gift to make something out of nothing. She was the first to remember birthdays, anniversaries, and important dates, and took it upon herself to remind those around her to call loved ones on the appropriate dates. In the last two years of her life, as she struggled against an illness that cut her off from the world physically much of the time, she turned to social media as a way to keep in touch. Through this, she became known as a prayer warrior for those whose suffering was greater than hers. Though her illness was great, she worked hard to reunite with family members from whom she had become separated over time, eager to catch up and learn about them. Mom also had an unbelievable love of cats. Any cat, in any condition, was welcome in her home. She became an advocate for animal abuse and worked diligently to spread the word to the world in an effort to curb neglect and abuse of any animal. Survivors include the love of her life, Rusty, of West Monroe, La and her three children whom she loved dearly; Liz Strickland and husband Joel, Sara Williamson and husband Jonathan, and Matthew Hofler. She has five grandchildren; Gabrielle Strickland, Holli Strickland, Jared Strickland, Layla Williamson, and Jacob Williamson, her brother, Michael Lane Hancock Sr of North Carolina, Sister-in-law Donna Patton, Step-Mother Sue Hancock and numerous aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and innumerable friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Alma Hancock, and an infant grandchild, Lauren. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to both Johnnye Pate and Donna Patton for the extra time they spent with her over the course of her illness. It meant a lot to our mother and your love for her means a lot to us as well. To the prayer warriors who lifted her up during her struggle, we felt every prayer and sincerely thank you for taking the time to lift us all up to Him. We would also like to thank three very special prayer warriors without whom the last two weeks would have been even more difficult. Beverly Dobbs, Debra Payne and Twila Crockett lent both their time and their expertise during her illness in order to support the family and for that we will always be grateful.
