Lona was born in West Monroe, LA on October 28, 1934 and died August 24, 2008 at her residence. She retired from Plant 70 at Riverwood International. After retirement, she helped her brother at the 103 Truckstop. Lona was a member of New Chapel Hill Baptist Church and the ABWA. Lona, known to us as “Mother, Momma, Mimi or Aunt Lona”, was an inspiration to everyone she met. She was very humble and touched so many lives with the light of her love. Cooking for her family and all of us being together made her smile. Christmas was her favorite time of year and she blessed each of us with a “Mimi Christmas”. The yard was filled with lights and dalmations everywhere, the tree so adorned with ornaments and gifts - a sight to behold! She would have huge stacks of presents, each one of them handpicked by her for each of us. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her; it is our loss and Heaven’s gain. Our memories of her will forever live in our hearts. A quote from Lona: “Being a mother is like being a quilt, a down comforter, a soft place where a child can hide and feel safe. It’s like a favorite blanket that fits around you and no one else. 5/24/00” We love you Mimi, Mother, Momma, Aunt, Sister, special friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maxine and A.O. Milstead Sr.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Richardson of West Monroe and Lori Stinson and husband Kenny Bill of Downsville; two sons, Timmy Richardson and Jody Richardson and wife Wendi of West Monroe; three brothers, Buddy Milstead and wife Tina, Robert Milstead and wife Marilyn, and Tommy Milstead and wife Dude; five grandchildren, Kourtney Griggs, Scott Cloud and wife Susie, Mary Lea Dunn and husband Greg, Grayson and Jentri Grace Richardson; four great grandchildren, Beaux Griggs, Victoria, Madison and Garrett Dunn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
