Lola Mae "Cookie" Phillips went home to be the with the Lord on Saturday, June 13, 2020, at the age of 68.
She was born in Malvern, Arkansas on April 10, 1952, to the late Glan and Emogene Gilbert.
Mrs. Phillips is preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of 39 years, Lynn Phillips; and brother, Sonny Gilbert.
Survivors include three daughters, Jennifer Shanas, Kristi Lowery (Craig), Amanda Wright (JD); one brother, Bobby Gilbert; five grandchildren, Kristen and Caden Wright, Lauren and Taylor Shanas, Drew and Land Lowery; brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Melissa Phillips; sister-in-law, Becky Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cookie was a devoted wife and mother and loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In our hearts, we know she entered heaven to the sound of her sweetheart Lynn whistling. They loved to farm, and throughout the years, Mrs. Cookie could be found driving the tractor baling hay or feeding the cows. She loved to ride horses and had many other hobbies she enjoyed as a homemaker. Mrs. Cookie is best known for her love of children, as she spent many years as a teacher's assistant in Malvern, AR and in her later years, she taught pre-school in Monroe, LA. She loved her grandchildren and filled their time together with fishing, arts and crafts, cooking, Bible stories, and love. She always had a room full of toys and a swing-set ready for visitors.
Graveside services will be held 11:00AM Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA.
