Funeral services for Lokile Westbrook Peters, 97, of Monroe, LA, will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Mulhearn Funeral Home on Sterlington Road (Hwy 165) in Monroe with a visitation at 1 PM until service time. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe.Mrs. Peters died March 2, 2016, at Baywind Village Center Nursing Home in League City, TX.Lokile grew up in Marion, La on Tiger Bend. She graduated from Marion High School as Valedictorian in 1934. She attended cosmetology school in Monroe and became a licensed cosmetologist in 1936. She worked in Sterlington, La for a few years and became an entrepreneur in 1952, opening Lokile’s Beauty Shop in Fairbanks, La. In 1955 she moved to Monroe and opened Lokile’s Beauty Shop on Oliver Road and continued her business for a total of 42 years until retiring in 1980. She married Leslie Harvey Peters in 1938 and celebrated 28 years of marriage before his death in 1966. She enjoyed her travels to Denver, Colorado, Canada, Disneyland, Arkansas, Washington State, Florida, and the island of Kauai, Hawaii. Prior to moving to League City, TX, she resided in Houston, TX and at Avalon Place Nursing Home in Monroe.Mrs. Peters was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Harvey Peters; her mother, Amma Lynn Westbrook Floyd; her father, Mack Stancil Westbrook; her sisters, Etta Westbrook Taylor, and Gloria Jean Wyatt; her brother, O.D. Westbrook; and her great grandson, Devin Henderson.Survivors include her daughters, Gloria Jean Brown and husband Georg, Shreveport, LA, Carolann Peters, League City, TX.; brother, Harry Lynn Wyatt and wife Lou, Monroe, LA.; sisters, Stance Savage, Lafayette, LA, and Boyce Ann Hulen, Swifton, AR; four grandchildren,Gary Huckabay, Jr, and wife Martha, St. Rose, LA, Leslie Ann Grady, Tupelo, MS, Brent Reynolds and wife Keri, Centereach, NY, Jill Reynolds Smith and husband David, League City, TX; 9 great grandchildren, Tiffany Huckabay, Dawson Huckabay, Chelsea Cernigliaro, McKenzie Eubank, Kylie Smith, Nick Smith, Zoe Smith, Eliana, and Spencer Westbrook Reynolds; nieces, Joyce Taylor, Liz Taylor, Jan Warner, Norma Hulen, Bobbie Bordelon, Morgan Simmons, Jamie Floyd; nephews, Wade Wyatt, Michael Savage, Tim Taylor Jr.; and a number of great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Brent Reynolds, Gary L.
